Greetings and welcome to Friday! A little cloudy and damp today and that should continue over the weekend – still great grilling weather!

Paul (along with Allyson and Nina) will be trekking to Washington, DC for the ICMA’s nationwide Economic Mobility cohort convening (they’ll be gone Tuesday through Friday). Paul asks for any good dinner recommendations – they are at the Mayflower Hotel, halfway between Dupont Circle and the White House.

 

Stacie was out of office Monday through Wednesday, in case anyone wonders why her updates are a bit sparse.

 

Here’s our weekly team update:

 

    • Partner Support/Community Support 
      • Central Coast Food Web – Sarah attended a CCFW Executive Committee meeting and prepped for the full board meeting next week.
      • Lincoln City – At Monday night’s Lincoln City City Council meeting, both Paul and Gregory requested FY26-27 funding ($25,000 each) for EDALC and the SBDC. Both requests were granted unanimously. A huge Thank You! Goes out to Alison and Seth at Lincoln City. Note: EDALC’s $25K request is an increase of $5K over the past three years of funding.
      • OCCC – Paul attended the OCCC Board of Education annual work session on Wednesday evening. Topics include a review of strategic priorities (and action items) for the College, Board goals and presidential goals for the coming year. 
      • Art, Oysters & Brews – Stacie uploaded all of her photos and videos to the shared drive.
  • Core Economic Development Services
  • Major Employers Report – Sarah is almost wrapped up with the Major Employers Report – just 10 businesses left out of 60!
  • Newport Facade Program – Sarah worked on the proposal for the City of Newport Facade Improvement grant.
  • Research – Sarah started some preliminary research in preparation for Paul’s presentation at the next Georgia Pacific Community Advisory Committee.
  • Oregon Prospector – Sarah updated Oregon Prospector listings. 
      • CommEcDev Grant Program –  Stacie prepared for and led the team in a review of the Community & Economic Development Grant Program. She will compile the team’s recommendations for review during the next Board meeting.
  • Community Connecting
  • Café Aquarium 2026 Planning – Tabling and volunteer RSVPs are rolling in on this sign-up form (RSVP deadline is next week – 8:00 AM, August 18th). Leslie met with some lead partners this week to continue logistics planning.   • Marketing & Communication – Stacie managed social media
  • Project Work
  • Deck of Lenses – Last year, Paul was working on creating an iOS app for his “Deck of Lenses: an Economic Development Thinking Tool” presentation, but he hit a bug/error he just couldn’t get around (that was last November). This week, while eating lunch at his desk and scrolling the ‘net, he had an “A ha!” moment. He dove back into XCode (the iOS programming environment) and quickly found and fixed the error. The app is now fully functional – he just needs to add in a few more cards to the deck and it’ll be ready for a beta App Store release.
  • Admin – Stacie updated her job description.
