Good afternoon and welcome to Friday! It looks like it’ll be a gorgeous Fall weekend out there!

The Oregon Coastal Caucus Economic Summit will be in Seaside this year from October 28th-29th. Paul will be representing EDALC at the event. If any of our Board members are interested in attending (or you know someone who might benefit), EDALC has some free passes we are more than willing to share (courtesy of The Ford Family Foundation). Just reach out to Paul for the access link and “cheat code.”

Here’s our weekly team update:

    • Partner Support/Community Support
      • CCFW – Sarah and Jim met with OCVA to discuss an upcoming NOAA grant they are collaborating on.
      • CWEDD – The Ignite Economic Vitality regional summit is happening on election day – November 3rd – in Albany. Paul continued work with the planning team to lock down the agenda. He also sent out invites to all of the elected officials in Lincoln County. Gregory Price also put together an impressive Access to Capital panel for the event. • OCCC – Paul got to interface with former Board member Birgitte Ryslinge on Wednesday as she helped to prepare Paul (Board of Education vice-chair), chair Debbie Kilduff and Marshall for the upcoming NWCCU accreditation site visit later in the month. Paul, Marshall and Leslie attended the OCATT Topping Out celebration on Thursday – what an amazing building that will be!
  • Blue Economy/O2IH
      • DEQ – Paul and Mark Farley convened numerous meetings to more closely explore a recent NoFO from the Oregon DEQ and if the grant application might be worth a swing – a few more questions to answer next week, and the partners should be able to make the call.
      • Marauder Robotics – Paul met with Marauder Robotic founder Dennis Yancey to learn more about their innovative undersea automation company and their efforts to use their technology in coastal kelp forest restoration.
  • Economic Mobility
      • Paul, Allyson and Nina met to get caught up on Allyson’s three current projects (Leslie is assisting with the Co-Design project) and to discuss marketing and educational materials plus a future presentation to the Yaquina Bay Economic Foundation.
      • Co-Design Sprint 3 – Using the input shared in the 3rd team meeting, Leslie designed the online survey for beneficiaries to get out to the networks. If you know folks who would be potential beneficiaries of a career development program – we’d love their input! Please share this link with them: tinyurl.com/careerdevsurvey2026. Additionally, this last sprint is gathering the community assets that already exist for career development programs in Lincoln County – see examples in the table in Leslie’s full update. The group has gathered a lot already from the first meetings and sprints, but please email leslie@businesslincolncounty.com with any that come to mind when you think of the people, programs, places, and resources that already exist that can help improve career development programming in Lincoln County.
  • Entrepreneurship
      • Fail Fest 11/12 @ Primaltones – Stacie continued trying to recruit a couple more speakers. She also printed posters, posted event content to social media, and updated the budget.
      • OEN 10/14/26 – Paul attended the OMIC (Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center) R&D session at OCCC – it was an informational session on their additive manufacturing (thing 3D printing, but with metal) service. Six Lincoln County manufacturing startups also attended. Sarah, Stacie and Leslie joined him for the PubTalk on Wednesday evening. The PubTalk featured two Lincoln County businesses giving five-minute pitches, plus short remarks by a number of economic support organizations.
  • Cascades West Innovation Hub – Stacie and Paul worked on the quarterly activity report and Paul submitted it yesterday.
  • Boot Camp + Pitch Event – The team met to figure out the general timeline and next steps for this ROI deliverable. Stacie created the project plan following the meeting.
      • Samaritan Commercial Kitchen Market Plan – Sarah scheduled a meeting to begin work on this ROI deliverable next week.
  • YEP – Sarah edited the first YEP video on FTC Grading and worked on scheduling additional interviews with local business owners.
  • Broadband
      • BEAD – Both Comcast and Starlink missed the deadline to execute broadband infrastructure contracts with the Oregon Broadband Office (OBO). Starlink’s failure to sign the contract throws a real wrench in the statewide plan, since their extremely low bid covered about 40% of the Broadband Serviceable Locations (BSLs) in the state (the low bid means that other ISPs or technologies can’t afford that type of deployment). OBO is working with the NTIA to determine next steps for Oregon.
  • Core Economic Development Services
  • Major Employers Report – Sarah got the final employment counts she needed for Major Employers, and is just waiting on one follow-up question regarding LCSD’s employment numbers and then she will be working with Stacie on developing the graphic of the results.
  • Oregon Prospector – Sarah updated Oregon Prospector listings and added new ones.
  • Community Connecting
  • RCBC at Oregon Resilience Summit – Leslie met with her co-presenters to practice for this fall’s sold out Oregon Resilience Summit. Leslie compiled and sent in the panel’s slide show, and she’ll be practicing her answers and preparing to head to Sunriver on Tuesday. See her panel’s details listed in the event newsletter.
  • Organizational Management
  • Marketing & Communication – Stacie managed social media and sent the quarterly newsletter out on Monday.
  • Project Work – Stacie spent some time cleaning up and creating projects in Monday.com.
  • Admin
        • Stacie put together tabling supplies for the OEN PubTalk.
  • Professional Development
    • OCVA – Leslie and Paul attended the Oregon Coast Visitors Association “People’s Coast Summit” in Lincoln City this week. Paul went for the long day (Tuesday) and Leslie attended both days. Leslie also facilitated a breakout panel.

That’s it for this week – thanks for ALL that you are doing out there. Keep us posted if you have anything you want us to share – we love hearing from you! Have a wonderful weekend!

Cheers,

-The EDALC Team (Paul, Sarah, Leslie and Stacie)
