Greetings and welcome to Thursday and the start of July (and a new fiscal year!). EDALC offices will be closed tomorrow for the Independence Day holiday.

Congratulations to EDALC’s new FY26-27 officers:

  • President – Jason Holland
  • Past President – Majalise Tolan
  • Vice President – Paula Miranda
  • Secretary – Lesley Ogden
  • Treasurer – Michael Smith
  • At Large – Marshall Roache

Thanks to all who attended our EDALC/YBEF annual meeting last night at Myril’s! We had a great crowd, an awesome food spread, tasty adult beverages and some amazing music by Ian Smith and Morgen Silverhorn. Another great year in the books!

Saturday is the Big 250 for the “Great Experiment” – there will be Saturday night fireworks celebrations in Lincoln City (Devil’s Lake), Newport (Yaquina Bay), Waldport (Alsea Bay) and Yachats.

Here’s our weekly team update:

    • Partner Support/Community Support
      • Art, Oysters & Brews – Paul completed the event and music posters (we’re promoting the music heavily for this year’s AOB) and got those off to Pacific Digital for printing. Sarah confirmed the petting zoo, coordinated marketing with Oregon Coast Today, and reached out to a couple potential vendors. Stacie worked with the Toledo Chamber to recruit the first round of volunteers, posted the music lineup to social media, updated the event webpage and picked up the posters.
      • City of Toledo – Paul will be volunteering as “the sound guy” for Toledo’s 4th of July celebration on Saturday at the Waterfront Park. Stacie will stop by for moral support.
    • Blue Economy/O2IH
      • Stacie created a new blog post and resolved an issue with the number of posts displayed on the O2IH website.
  • Economic Mobility
      • Paul, Allyson and Nina met at City Hall on Tuesday morning to get updates on Allyson’s work, including the LatinX business survey, Co-Design process (Leslie is also lending a hand on that one) and the potential of a “Lease to Locals” program to move short term rentals into long-term. Paul, Allyson and Nina will be travelling to Washington, DC for a nationwide Economic Mobility cohort convening in mid-August.
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Youth Entrepreneurship Program – Sarah met with Kelliane about making new YEP founder videos to add to the 2027 program’s content. She started working on the project timeline and video intros/outros.
      • CWIH – Paul worked on the third interim report for our regional lead work.
  • Core Economic Development Services
  • Major Employers Report – Sarah continued to reach out to businesses for their employment numbers.
  • Oregon Prospector – Sarah updated Oregon Prospector listings and added new ones.
  • Community Connecting
      • TFFF Grant – Leslie and Paul did a final review (and slight tweak) of grant verbiage and file attachments and then submitted the FY26-27 funding application for $55,000 on Monday.
      • See Leslie’s full weekly update here: July 2, 2026 EDALC CC Weekly Report
  • Organizational Management
  • Marketing & Communication – Stacie managed social media including AOB posts, TALC posts, and 4th of July posts.
  • Project Work – Stacie worked through last minute event details and sent an email reminder to those who RSVP’d yes. Team prepped and loaded supplies for the meeting. Stacie created a Slack thread for the event retrospective and updated the project on Monday.com.
  • Admin – Stacie updated the BoD details on the About Us page.

Reminder: Paul will be out for vacation from July 7th through the 20th.

That’s it for this week – thanks for ALL that you are doing out there. Keep us posted if you have anything you want us to share – we love hearing from you! Have a wonderful weekend!

Cheers,

-The EDALC Team (Paul, Sarah, Leslie and Stacie)
