Greetings and welcome to the last Friday in May!
Here’s our update for this week:
Blue Economy::
Mark Farley and I met to talk through logistics juggling for the NOAA grant application (the one being jointly submitted for Alaska, Washington and Oregon). I also met this morning with Heather DeSart (Northwest Oregon Works) to update her on our Blue Economy work and learn more about the $800K of maritime workforce support dollars they have received. Also, today we received the potential final draft of the NOAA economic impact study that we’ll review next week. – Paul
Paul and I had a meeting with Kristin and Marcus with the Oregon Ocean Cluster Initiative to discuss potential project overlap with O2IH. – Sarah
Community Connecting::
This week I stayed busy with email communications, scheduling, and lots of R&D. Paul started to teach me the ways of WordPress and website development. I dove into topics and websites for future “Take Action Lincoln County” efforts, centered around making it easier for locals and visitors to spend their time and money on enjoyable experiences and products that also give back to our Central Coast Community. I’m also on the tail end of May jury duty, which they’re calling me in (for the third time) this afternoon, so at least I’ll get more time to read more of Donut Economics during the inevitable waiting in the Courthouse.
Next Monday, I get to go back to the CTSI Farm, this time with OCVA staff and board members, so I’ll include a combined update on my CTSI Farm visits in next week’s report, since I have to go to the courthouse now and don’t have time to share details on last Friday’s volunteer day there!

Creative Economies::
This week I attended two ART Toledo meetings and worked on updating the website, did some Art, Oysters & Brews event coordination, and put together the registration forms and newsletter for art vendors. – Sarah
Events::
Art, Oysters & Brews – Tested vendor registration process with Sarah. Created and posted the call for Art, Oysters, & Brews vendors on Facebook and Instagram. – Stacie
YBEF/EDALC Annual Meeting – I did some event coordination for the YBEF/EDALC celebration and sent out the punchbowl invite! If you haven’t RSVP’d yet, please check out the invite here: https://www.punchbowl.com/parties/7022b7263f2d59acf95d – Sarah
Marketing & Communication::
Created a media tracker which will be used for a quarterly media report beginning in July, drafted media policy for funding recipients, and began adding brand assets in Canva Pro which will inform the media toolkit and brand guide for the website. – Stacie
Organizational Development::
I spent some time setting up some systems within our new GMail system to limit both incoming spam and to certify that our emails are NOT spam (since we are now using GMail, but with our busiunesslincolncounty.com domain name) to others. So far, it seems to be working! – Paul
Built out shared Google Drive folders for the migration, brainstormed with Paul and Sarah re: team retreat (scheduled for 7/11), and created Google folder + Monday.com board for NOAA grant work – Stacie
Project Work::
I updated the opportunities for entrepreneurs slider and Oregon prospector listings. – Sarah
Supporting Partners::
CTSI – I spent some time getting the “backbone” of the new web portal set up – hosting space, WordPress install, linking up the URL and installing our chosen theme. Leslie and I stubbed in a few pages and I did some eCommerce R&D on the best way to manage incoming pow-wow sponsorships. – Paul

-Paul 🙂
