Happy Friday!
We had a very thought-provoking joint board meeting with YBEF on Wednesday evening at Hatfield. We were pretty slim on EDALC Directors, but that’s always a chance when we try to do something not on our regularly scheduled date.
The NOAA Economic Impact Report was a great starting point to see the MOC-P’s value to Lincoln County and the state (we’ll share out the slide deck and report soon!). Bob did a great job of leading a discussion on what additional data we’ll want to dial in to a finer grain as we prepare for a series of anticipated requests (interest, qualifications and proposals) from NOAA as they evaluate their next lease for the MOC-P fleet.
As a reminder, there will be NO BoD meeting next Thursday – this week’s joint meeting served as our September/October meeting.

- Cascades West Innovation Hub – The Cascades West Council of Governments is looking for a partner to help them with Phase 2 of the Innovation Hub planning (evaluating virtual governance models, gathering stakeholders, DEI evaluations, etc.). After reviewing the scope of work, Paul met with the COG’s grant manager, and it looks like it is a great opportunity for EDALC and could allow EDALC to fund some additional capacity. The team will be working on the proposal early next week.
- Pacific Power – Paul, Dave Price and Lincoln City Chamber Director Lori Arce-Torres had a lunch meeting today with Ryan Flynn (new president of Pacific Power) and Alisa Dunlop, PP’s Regional Business Manager.
- OCVA – Paul has been working with Arica Sears, OCVA Deputy Director, on the opening keynote presentation and panel discussion that will kick off the People’s Coast Summit in Florence on October 2nd.

- NOAA Economic Impact Study – This Monday, the team from the Eastern Research Group (Jennifer Lam and Paige McKibbons) and Paul presented the study’s findings to the Newport Port Commission. That presentation was a touch more “port focused.” On Wednesday evening was the presentation to the EDALC and YBEF directors and invited guests.

- CCFW – Sarah attended an executive committee meeting for the Central Coast Food Web and also reserved their conference room for the November CWEDD meeting.
- Entrepreneurship
- Fail Fest – Sarah sent out the Fail Fest press release and uploaded the event onto KLCC’s Oregon events calendar. Stacie created and added an event banner to the Entrepreneurship page of the website.

- Sarah updated Oregon Prospector listings and checked old ones to make sure they were still active. She also looked into the program’s options for “street view” and other viewing options and found some issues to send to Business Oregon.

- Last Night’s Sana y Seguridad (Health & Safety) Café in Lincoln City was, as expected, another fabulous turnout. Salúd to all the families, tabling organizations, and event organizers continuing the success of the 10th event in the Café Resource series! Leslie carpooled up with Gia Jensen, Bilingual Outreach Coordinator for the City of Newport (as she always enjoys “Community Building in Cars” time on the commute to Lincoln City). This was another wonderful opportunity to connect with regional organizations and families. Many of the regional organizations represented were the same who joined last week’s Café in Newport. Other tabling organizations included Pollywog and Early Learning Hub, and Lincoln City Police (also handing out free youth helmets, as Newport Police did last week). More participant surveys of the entire event series were completed, and Leslie is very excited for the results to be shared with the community and organizations at next Sunday’s Café at the Aquarium!

That’s it for this week. Thanks for ALL that you are doing out there! Keep us posted if you have anything you want us to share, and don’t be stingy with your ideas – we love hearing from you!
Cheers,
