Happy Friday and welcome to August!

First off, a huge thank you to our Directors for attending yesterday’s August Board meeting. Great discussion, and it’s always so helpful for the team to hear what our Directors are up to. Also a loud “Huzzah!” to Carrie who artfully stepped into her role of Grand Poobah of our organization!

As a reminder – this weekend is Art, Oysters & Brews in Toledo (noon-5pm on both Saturday and Sunday) – the whole EDALC crew will be there in force – stop by if you get a chance!

  • ART ToledoFor the Art, Oysters & Brews event this week, Sarah updated the ART Toledo website, coordinated with artists, members of the planning committee and other event vendors. She also gathered materials for the event and EDALC’s table at AOB. (
  • She also generously helped me pick up the booth setup from YAA on Wednesday – thank you Sarah! (Stacie)
        • Paul got all the musicians set with event logistics, W-9s and leaded up his EV with the sound system.
      • Cascades West COG – Paul participated in a meeting hosted by the COG with stakeholders involved in the Cascades West Innovation Hub. The COG is managing a second Business Oregon grant to create a virtual innovation resource for our four county region.
  • Blue Economy/O2IH
      • NOAA Economic Impact Report – Sarah, Paul and Mark Farley met with the team from the Eastern Research Group to review the two presentation slide decks and talk through the logistics of the in-person presentations happening at the end of September.
      • Paul met with Len Tumbarello, Northwest Oregon Works’ new Maritime Program Coordinator. He’s charged with pushing out around $800K over the next year in Maritime workforce training and support dollars.
  • Entrepreneurship
      • Paul confirmed Primaltones as a potential venue for FailFest 2024. Stacie sent email inquiring about reserving the space for 10/24.
      • ROI – Paul completed our initial ROI interim grant report this week. Today Paul met with ROI program director Brian Plinski to talk through initial work and what’s coming down the pike (the Economic Summit and the YEP Pitch event were both ROI projects).

  • Oregon Prospector – Sarah updated Oregon Prospector listings.

Café Resource Series

  • The Next Lincoln City Café Resource on “Family Safety and Health” is set for Thursday, September 26th, 5:30 – 7:30 PM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Our Newport date/venue is still in the works.
