Greetings and welcome to the first Friday in June! Given the traffic on 101 and all of the accidents, it’s clear that the summer season is upon us! Drive carefully out there!

Thanks to all who made the short Board of Directors meeting yesterday! Carrie is now the world record holder for running the shortest EDALC Board meeting in history – clocking in at three minutes and 47 seconds! Thanks to all for their feedback and help as the team put together the FY25-26 budget for the organization.

Our by-laws required annual meeting will be on June 26th at PrimalTones, in concert with YBEF’s annual meeting. Remember that the annual meeting part only takes a few minutes – most of the evening is a chance to kick back, have some fun, enjoy some drinks and food and the jazz stylings of Whole Lotta Louis. Register here OR let Stacie know that you’re unable to attend if you haven’t already.

This week marked Paul’s fifth anniversary as Executive Director of EDALC… here are some of his thoughts he shared on Facebook this week:

I feel so fortunate to have a job that’s meaningful, challenging and gives me a chance to constantly learn new things. Bundle that with an amazing, whip-smart team of doers and a Board of Directors that truly cares for our mission, cares for EDALC’s staff and enthusiastically allows us to tilt at new windmills, and I can’t ask for a better gig.

Here’s EDALC team update for this week:

    • Partner Support/Community Support
  • Art, Oysters & Brews – Stacie and Sarah worked on marketing (including a call for artists) + plans for an ART Toledo committee meeting and Paul finished booking the bands.
  • OEDA Annual ConferencePaul and Stacie met with the committee on Thursday. A theme was determined and we will be helping plan the “adventure” portion of the event with some optional tours in Newport.
      • Creative Economies Playbook for Lincoln County (funded by Northwest Oregon Works) Stacie continued to work on content and met with Paul to review progress/changes to date.
  • Blue Economy/O2IH
      • Rural Prosperity Partners – Paul met with Rural Prosperity Partners several times this week to refine potential funding asks. Kaety Jacobson is now consulting with them, and offered some great insider insights about how to approach capital funding asks for economic development work (such as creating a Lincoln County business incubator).
  • Community Connecting
  • Tillamook Career Connect High School Pilot Program: Tourism & Hospitality – Starting in Pacific City Monday morning, Talaina King and Leslie began a  3-county collaborative carpool day with Cape Perpetua Collaborative (CPC) and many other tourism, hospitality, education, and conservation partners. Danielle Maillard from the Tillamook Estuaries Partnership invited professionals with diverse work experiences in tourism, environmental education, conservation, and hospitality to share their professional journeys and learning experiences with the students who had already studied at a local seafood restaurant, and other professional opportunities throughout Tillamook County. Leslie enjoyed catching up with Tillamook County efforts, representatives, and organizations, and hopes these connections and creative pilot project can inspire and connect aligned professional pathways in Lincoln County. • Organizational Management
  • Marketing & Communication – Stacie posted Friday community roundup and created content + shared relevant partner/regional posts on various social media channels.
  • Project Work – Stacie continued to work on the annual meeting. Both she and Paul ventured into the wild to procure some high quality bubbly. Paul secured a supplier.

That’s it for this week. Thanks for ALL that you are doing out there! Keep us posted if you have anything you want us to share, and don’t be stingy with your ideas – we love hearing from you! Have a wonderful weekend!

Cheers,

-The EDALC Team (Paul, Sarah, Leslie and Stacie)
