Greetings and welcome to the final Friday in June!

First off, a huge thank-you to all of our EDALC Directors who could attend last night’s YBEF/EDALC Annual Meeting and Celebration at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club. The weather cooperated, the bespoke cocktails flowed freely, El Faro Taqueria grilled us some amazing food on-site and Ian Smith and Morgen Silverhorn provided some toe-tapping music. Bob did a great job with EDALC’s annual meeting and officer election as did Dave Price with YBEF’s.

A loud Huzzah to Leslie and Lisa Norton from CTSI for their short, emotional and impactful presentation on “taking action after a land acknowledgement” and for the official launch of the TakeActionLincolnCounty.com website that occurred during the meeting.

And even louder Huzzah to EDALC’s amazing staff – they made yesterday’s event feel effortless and smooth, and we all know how much work that is to pull off.

Also, a reprise update from yesterday’s email, in case you missed it – Sarah’s Trystan is back home and recovering! Sarah will be in “Nurse Sarah” mode for a few weeks. She was off this week and sliding into remote work later next week. We are all super-happy for them to be in the recovery stage!

Finally, due to the very odd holiday week next week, we won’t have a weekly update on July 5th… will hit you up with all the news on July 12th. So let’s get to it – here’s our (shorter than usual) weekly update:

    • Partner Support/Community Support
  • ART Toledo
        • Stacie dropped off the sound system for Chalk the Block at Toledo City Hall and monitored vendor registration for Art, Oysters & Brews.
        • Stacie made updates to www.arttoledo.com
  • YBEF
        • Stacie and Paul coordinated with vendors. Stacie created drink menus. Paul, Leslie, and Stacie gathered and loaded up supplies, flowers, dessert, ice etc. and spent yesterday afternoon setting up for the event. After a very fun evening we did the gathering, loading, and cleaning with the help of some wonderful board members and our significant others. Stacie is shamelessly eating cookies for breakfast.
  • OCCC/Boli
      • This week, we had our Pre-Apprenticeship Planning Taskforce meeting. So far, well over 30 folks (high school students and adults) have indicated interest in the Fall program (target: 24 students). Pre-apprenticeship grant funds will be used for another set of career exploration VR systems and soon there will be a search for a second program coordinator. All great work on career-focused CTE training.

  • Blue Economy/O2IH
  • NOAA Climate Reliance Accelerator grant
  • The week Paul and Mark Farley had a call with Washington Maritime Blue on the grant budget. We also sought justification for the proposed split of funds across the three partners (as in, why is Alaska slated to receive so much more than Oregon?). We’re getting there – forging a new partnership is always a bit of a challenge.

  • Community Connecting
  • Take Action Lincoln County Website
      • For those who weren’t able to join the YBEF/EDALC Annual Meeting and Celebration yesterday, takeactionlincolncounty.com is officially live! To learn more about the site and how you and your organization can participate, please read my full weekly update: June 26, 2024 EDALC CC Weekly Report

  • Organizational Management
  • Marketing & Communication
        • Stacie posted weekly roundup to fb and ig stories
  • Admin
  • End of Fiscal Year Work
          • Paul spent some time wrapping up end-of-fiscal year tasks and a few last-minute things that slipped through the cracks over our chaotic last week. Next week, he’ll do the end of year financial report.
  • Annual Report
        • Paul prepared an updated annual report (that was available to folks at last night’s event) for EDALC. Stacie proofed the document several times (you can never have too many eyes on a document like that!).
      • Lincoln City Local Program Support
        • EDALC receives our annual support funding from Lincoln City through their Local Program Support funds. Paul worked this week to complete the application and supporting documentation. It was reviewed and given a thumbs-up from Alison Robertson. Paul will present at the Lincoln City Council meeting on July 8th.

That’s it for this week. Thanks for ALL that you are doing out there! Keep us posted if you have anything you want us to share, and don’t be stingy with your ideas – we love hearing from you! Paul will be off on Monday (Susan and Paul are trekking to a cabin on a river near Mt. Hood with friends for a long weekend).

Cheers,

-The EDALC Team (Paul, Sarah, Leslie and Stacie)
