Greetings and welcome to the last Friday in May! It looks like a grand weekend – hopefully we can all catch an orca sighting or two! If you haven’t reserved your spot(s) for the annual meeting please do so here!
Remember that tomorrow is Bloom Newport from 3pm until 7pm at the PAC (it’s a free event!). Leslie will be manning an EDALC table there. Learn more here: https://www.bloomnewport.org/
Here’s the team update for the week:
-
- Partner Support/Community Support
- Art, Oysters & Brews – Sarah finalized the sign up form for artists to be a vendor at the 2025 Art, Oysters & Brews event happening on August 2nd & 3rd. She also sent out a mailchimp email promoting the sign up to local artists, updated the ART Toledo website, and reached out to other organizations for some help with event logistics. Stacie liaised with the City of Toledo in person to confirm entertainment funding. Paul started lining up the bands for the two-day event.
- CWEDD – This week, the CWEDD Executive Committee met to discuss (and set the agenda for) the upcoming June 12th full board meeting to be held in Lincoln County (at the Aquarium – thanks Carrie!). Marshall will be presenting on the OCATT project at the meeting.
- Creative Economies Playbook for Lincoln County (funded by Northwest Oregon Works) Stacie worked on content, and worked with Leslie to prepare creative economy outreach materials for the table at Bloom.

-
- Entrepreneurship
- Cascades West Innovation Hub – This Tuesday, RAIN Catalysts submitted an application for the next round of CWIH funding from Business Oregon. The EDALC team helped with the work and will serve as Lincoln County’s regional lead should it get funded. Paul (and team) wrapped up their Groundwork projects and submitted the final CWIH Operations and Framework report to the Council of Governments today.

- CO.STARTERS – Sarah participated in a meeting about coordinating logistics for a fall series of the CO.STARTERS business program that will be held in Toledo, Newport and Lincoln City.

- Oregon Ocean Cluster (OOC) Team Meeting – OCVA Director, Marcus Hinz, reconvened folks working on the two impact areas that emerged from last year’s Oregon Ocean Cluster Strategic Planning effort: Increasing Availability & Value; and Strengthening Capacity. Sarah and Leslie both joined to share EDALC’s blue economy related projects and learn more about the ongoing blue food and 100% fish efforts in Oregon. To stay updated on OOC efforts, please sign up for the OOC newsletter.
- In continuation of an OOC connection made earlier this year, Maggie Michaels shared that the New Hampshire Sea Grant Team developed this simple survey to allow anyone interested in watching Women on the Water (the People’s Choice Award movie from the 2025 Blue Film Fest) to receive the link for helping their outreach and data-gathering effort. Leslie can’t recommend the film enough – please enjoy and share the opportunity with your family, friends, and network!
