Greetings and welcome to Friday!

Paul has been off this week in El Paso for the ICMA’s Economic Mobility & Opportunity training (with Newport’s Nina Vetter and Allyson West). Sarah will be off on vacation to Arizona next week.

Here’s our weekly team update:

  • Partner Support/Community Support
      • CWEDD – Paul chaired the quarterly Cascades West Economic Development District board meeting from El Paso on Thursday morning. Two things of note: the Board approved changes to the articles and by-laws to limit the number of COG executive committee folks (both Lane and CW) on the board to allow for more members from economic support organizations and higher education. Also, the board premiered Sarah’s CWEDD/CEDS video – everyone loved it! You can watch it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JYQbP6ivIbiMiANTk3r3wVOzRduijfv4/view?usp=sharing
      • CCFW – Sarah attended a CCFW strategic plan review meeting and an executive committee meeting.
      • OCCC – On Wednesday, OCCC passed a resolution to name Dr. Birgite Ryslinge President Emerita.
  • Entrepreneurship
      • Cascades West Innovation Hub – CWIH launched its new website this week: https://innovatecascadeswest.org/. EDALC will be hosting a CWIH event for economic support organizations in Newport on January 27th at 9am – details coming soon!
  • Core Economic Development Services
      • 2026 Lincoln County Economic Summit – The whole EDALC team met for over two hours on Monday to dial in the specifics of the 2026 Economic Summit (which will be March 12th). Sarah ran the meeting and filled an entire white board with all of our notes. Stacie created some graphic concepts/designs and will finalize branding for the summit next week with a save the date planned for the holiday newsletter.
      • Community and Economic Development Grant Program – Stacie finished preparing the scoring matrix and Paul set up the documents web page (https://businesslincolncounty.com/board-of-directors-grants-25-26/) so everyone has access to the grant applications. EDALC’s grant review meeting will be on Thursday, January 8th at 3:30pm via Zoom.
      • Oregon Prospector – Sarah updated Oregon Prospector listings and added new ones.
  • Community Connecting
