Greetings and welcome to to a wet Friday! We’re all in full holiday event mode right now, with dinners, meetings and everything twinkling with a bit more festiveness.
On that subject, we know we’re WAY overdo for an EDALC staff and Board (and plus ones!) celebratory get-together, be we decided to wait until after the holidays, when all of our schedules aren’t so full. We’ll plan to come together in February or early March for some cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. We’ll keep you posted!
Birgitte and I discussed the grant evaluation meeting – rather than trying to cram it into January during an unscheduled time, we’ll do our grant evaluations at our February 2nd EDALC Board meeting. It’ll keep us on schedule going forward and won’t affect the award deliveries much, if at all.
Also, Leslie is off on vacation this week, so no update from her neck of the woods this go-round.
Here’s our EDALC update for the week:
====
Blue Economy/O2IH::
Today, I had my “blue interview” with the Eastern Research Group as part of their Blue Sector Survey work. They are conducting front-line interviews up until December 14th, and then will resume after the holidays. I also pulled together a short overview of our O2IH work for our coastal team as we prepare to get our regular meetings back on the calendar. Doug Holbrook offered up some sage advice as we consider limitations or challenges to selecting the initial O2IH 501c3 board. At Wednesday’s YBEF meeting, we heard from Laura Anderson and her exciting seafood lab work that she’s doing down the Bay Road. – Paul
Communication/Marketing::
On Monday, I added all the newsletters that EDALC has released recently to the newsletter archive on the website. -Sarah
I worked on the EDALC Holiday Mailchimp newsletter throughout the week. -Sarah
I worked on an ad for the Waldport Tide Book on Friday. -Sarah
Community and Economic Development Grant::
Grant applications are beginning to come in, and I put together some response email templates to keep applicants informed during the process. I also talked with six potential applicants this week, answering questions and helping them get their ducks in a row. The application deadline is next week. – Paul
Creative Economies::
On Thursday, I attended the ART Toledo meeting at Toledo City Hall (Paul attended via Zoom). -Sarah
I wrote two ads for the new Phantom Gallery artists on Friday that I will be posting in the next couple of weeks. -Sarah
Organizational Development::
Tuesday morning I attended an informational webinar on CO.STARTERS in order to best market and share that course to entrepreneurs. -Sarah
I read some articles about behavioral motivators in preparation for next week’s Leadership Lincoln Class on Wednesday. -Sarah
Our Communities and Parners::
Lincoln City – This week, I pulled together a third draft of our project partnership proposal with Lincoln City. Alison and the city just hired Seth Lenarts from Albany to help with Alison’s projects – after the first of the year, the three of us will meet to hammer out the nuts and bolts of specific 2023 collaborations. – Paul
OCVA – On Monday night, Susan and I attended the OCVA holiday business social – a vibrant event where business and tourism marketing folks come together to swap war stories and toast some holiday cheer. This season, it was held at Salishan. – Paul
Project Work::
On Monday and Friday I updated Oregon Prospector entries and added new ones. -Sarah
I updated and added new courses to the opportunities for entrepreneurs slider on the EDALC website Tuesday and Thursday. -Sarah
On Wednesday, I added two new sections to the business resources section of the EDALC website for Work Source Oregon and their Work Share program. -Sarah
On Thursday and Friday, I added to the average rent of commercial buildings in Lincoln County Spreadsheet and continued looking for spaces for a potential dog park. -Sarah
This week, I met with Jalene Case – I’ll be assisting her, and doing some Creativity Boot Camp work, as part of a February leadership retreat for the Samaritan North leadership team. Looking forward to that! – Paul
